Save your business grief by getting employment contracts right

22 September 2016

Employee contracts are a bit like marriages and not just because they’re binding. Too often it’s a case of ‘Write a contract in haste, regret it at your leisure’.

We know you're busy and getting the employment contracts written up and legally-compliant upfront can take time and research to ensure you get it right. It's a legal document, and you can't afford to get it wrong.

A good solid contract can save you many headaches in the long run if people start wheeling out the ‘That’s not my job’ and ‘I wasn’t told this was part of my role’ lines. Then you can just point and breathe a sigh of relief.

Appropriating templates you find online and get ahold of elsewhere is never a good idea. They may have been created with international workplace law in mind/20 years ago/as a joke/who knows? Compliance with legislation is absolutely crucial here so if you’re going to use a template, make sure it was drawn up with (current) legally compliant advice.
